Flower, Pre-Rolls, Vapes: Understanding Product Formats
Open any cannabis menu and you'll meet a parade of product types: flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, concentrates, capsules, oils, topicals. They all start from the same plant — the difference is how the product is prepared and how you use it. Here's a plain-language tour of what's on our shelves.
Flower
The classic: dried cannabis buds, sold in sizes from a gram or two up to larger amounts. Flower is ground and typically smoked or used in a dry-herb vaporizer. It's the format with the widest variety on our menu — different strains, growers, and price points — which makes it a favourite of people who enjoy exploring.
Pre-rolls
Flower that's already ground and rolled for you. Zero preparation, zero equipment — which is why pre-rolls are one of the most popular picks for newcomers and casual users. They come as singles or multi-packs, and in "infused" versions that combine flower with concentrates for a stronger product (check the THC number on the label — infused pre-rolls are noticeably more potent).
Vapes
Cartridges of cannabis extract that attach to a battery and produce vapour instead of smoke. Convenient, low-odour, and easy to use in small amounts. The label tells you the extract type and potency, and our team can explain the difference between cartridge formats and which batteries fit what.
Edibles
Gummies, chocolates, baked goods, and beverages. Edibles take much longer to take effect than inhaled formats — often an hour or more — which is exactly why the advice you'll always hear from us is to start with a small amount and wait before having more. In Canada, legal edibles are capped at 10 mg of THC per package, which is a helpful guardrail for newcomers.
Concentrates
Potent extracts — hash, kief, rosin, shatter, and more. These are the strongest products on the menu and are generally best suited to experienced consumers who know their tolerance. If you're curious, ask us — there's a wide range, and some traditional formats like hash are milder entry points than others.
Oils, capsules, and topicals
Oils and capsules are swallowed and measured in precise doses, which makes them easy to keep consistent. Topicals are creams and balms applied to the skin. Both are smoke-free, discreet options.
So… which one is for you?
Honestly: it depends on what you're looking for, and that's a conversation, not a chart. Come in, tell us what you're curious about, and we'll narrow it down together. Every product we carry comes through Ontario's regulated supply chain, tested and labelled, so whatever format you land on, you'll know exactly what's in it.
