New to Cannabis? A First-Timer's Guide to Visiting Our Stores
Walking into a cannabis store for the first time can feel a little intimidating — new products, unfamiliar terms, and a menu that seems to have its own language. Here's the good news: it's much simpler than it looks, and our whole job is to make it easy. This guide covers everything you need for a smooth first visit.
Before you come in
Two things to bring: a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's licence, passport, or Ontario photo card) and whatever questions you have. You must be 19 or older to enter, and we check ID for anyone who looks under 25 — every visit, no exceptions. That's the law in Ontario, and it applies to everyone.
If you'd like to browse ahead of time, each of our stores has its full menu online with prices, sizes, and product details. You can order for pickup or just get a feel for what's in stock.
When you arrive
Tell us you're new — genuinely, it's our favourite kind of conversation. There's no rush and no pressure. A budtender will ask a few simple questions about what kind of experience you're looking for and walk you through the options at whatever pace suits you.
Making sense of the label
Every legal cannabis product in Ontario comes through the province's regulated supply chain, which means it's been tested and its contents are printed right on the label. The two numbers you'll see most are THC and CBD content. Your budtender can explain what the numbers mean for the specific product you're holding — and if you're starting out, the golden rule you'll hear from us is simple: start low, go slow.
A few honest tips
Don't feel you need to buy much on a first visit — smaller sizes exist so you can try things. Keep your receipt. Store your purchase away from kids and pets, and never drive after consuming.
